Job Title: Tax Preparer

Location: Remote

Status: Part-Time Seasonal Employee (Independent Contractor Option Available)

Hourly Rate: $20.00 to $30.00 (based on experience)

Spire Financial Consulting LLC is a growing firm providing comprehensive financial solutions for individuals and businesses. Our services include tax reporting and compliance, IRS representation, business accounting, payroll services, and financial health and wealth building.

We are passionate about helping our clients reach their financial goals and are seeking an experienced Tax Return Preparer to join our team for the 2027 tax season to prepare 2026 tax returns.

Core Responsibilities

• Prepare complete and accurate client tax returns, including but not limited to Forms 1040, 1041, 1065, and 1120S
• Assist with closing processes, including assembling finalized returns and gathering any outstanding client information
• Assess and file extensions when necessary
• Identify applicable deductions and credits within compliance standards
• Maintain up-to-date knowledge of current tax laws and regulations
• Ensure strict confidentiality and professionalism with all client financial data
• Provide additional administrative and tax support as needed

Qualifications and Requirements

• Active AFSP (Annual Filing Season Program) credential required by December 31, 2026
• Active PTIN (Preparer Tax Identification Number)
• Ability to prepare 100 or more returns by the applicable April filing deadlines
• Proof of Errors and Omissions Insurance

 

Technical Requirements

• Proficiency with tax preparation software and document management systems
• Strong file organization and digital workflow skills
• Experience with PDF tools, word processing, and spreadsheets
• Dedicated technology setup, including:
• Computer with camera and microphone
• Reliable phone access
• High-speed internet connection
• Active antivirus protection

• Strong critical thinking, problem-solving, and research abilities
• Self-motivated with excellent time management and organizational skills
• Clear and professional written and verbal communication
• Client-focused mindset

How You Fit

This is a remote, seasonal, part-time contract position for the 2027 tax season, with an expected engagement period from December 2026 through June 15, 2027, with potential for extension.

Spire is committed to supporting team members with training and resources. Team members must be available during prearranged working hours, Monday through Thursday, within standard business hours.
